Replacement Parts

Start replacement parts from function and risk—not copied shape

Parts that look alike may perform very differently. Before deciding whether FDM is suitable, capture loads, heat, mating features, original material, and the consequence of failure.

Print-ready file

Upload STL/3MF to check size and enter the quote workflow.

Physical part, no file

Submit photos, dimensions, and function for modeling or reverse-engineering review.

Test first

Validate fit and operation before stocking or continuous use.

Screen the risk

Not every spare part should be made with FDM.

  • Do not substitute safety parts without qualified approval
  • Review heat, load, and consequence of breakage
  • Use OEM or machining when more appropriate

Capture the original

Photos alone are insufficient for mating parts.

  • Measure overall size, holes, and center distances
  • Photograph multiple views with a scale
  • State original material and failure cause

Rights and revisions

The requester must have the right to use the design or reproduce the part.

  • Infringing files or products are not accepted
  • Name the revision and measurement date
  • Keep the validated test part as a repeat reference

Limitations to understand

  • Not an OEM or safety certification
  • Accuracy depends on source data and measurement
  • A worn or broken sample may not represent original geometry

FAQ

Questions before submitting

Can I send only the physical part?

An assessment can start from the part, its function, dimensions, and environment. The team will identify whether measuring, scanning, or modeling is needed.

Can it be printed in PLA?

That depends on heat, load, and environment. PETG, ASA, or another process may be more suitable for functional replacements.

Is it guaranteed to replace the original?

Not from shape alone. Fit and function must be tested according to the risk of the application.
